Unemployed and need affordable health care? The Illinois Department of Insurance says help may be available.
Get Covered Illinois Executive Director Laura Pellikan says there are better deals in the Health Insurance Marketplace thanks to the American Rescue Plan. She says if you’ve received unemployment benefits this year and want to find the best price for health care coverage, it’s a good idea to go through the process.
“There are two different categories. The people who already have a plan that may save more and the people who don’t have plans because they looked at them before but they were out of reach because of cost. In some cases, premiums could be less than $10 per month. So it is definitely worth going through the exercise again,” said Pellikan.
