An afternoon and evening of music before the traditional 4th of July fireworks display drew a sizeable crowd to Bryan Memorial Park on Sunday.
The seven food trucks were also a hit, with lines forming for many of them during the music performance.
Salem Economic Development Director Tabitha Meador worked with musician Matt Poss in putting the program together.
“We could have not asked for a better day, the weather cooperated, we’ve had a good crowd all day, and the bands have been phenomenal. We’ve had a variety of food and everybody has seemed very happy throughout the day,” said Meador.
Mayor Nic Farley is pleased with how the music program is developing.
“I think this is a great way for the community to come together in a kind of family-oriented event. It’s something that was kind of a brainchild last year and we’re building upon it and we exceeded expectations again this year,” said Farley.
Last year’s program was hampered by COVID-19 restrictions that were lifted this year.
A large crowd gathered around the Salem Reservoir for the traditional fireworks display that followed.
