The Veterans 4th of July Parade in Centralia has 33 registered units and could add more before the parade steps off at two Sunday afternoon.

Parade Chair Butch Mathis says the parade will be led by Grand Marshall, the Honorable Vietnam Veteran Lance Corporal ‘Jim’ Murphy of the US Marines.  Also participating in the parade is World War Two Prisoner of War Sergeant Wilbert Rolves.

In addition to police and fire units, the Centralia Elks Lodge will present their large US Flag, the Illinois Patriot Guard Riders, various veteran and other organizations, Centralia Boy Scouts Troop 260, family entries, and two floats are scheduled to be part of the parade.

Addition entries will be taken before the parade starts at a table set up at Chestnut and Broadway.    It will then travel west to Fairview Park where the American Legion’s final day of the annual Homecoming Celebration will be underway.
