The Kinmundy Board of Alderman seated a new member, agreed to start the process for camping to be allowed at the old city lake, and to keep an ordinance in place requiring mobile homes moved into the community to be ten years old or less.
The board swore in Gina Jenkins as a new Ward Two Alderman to fulfill the remaining two years on the term of Angela Diss who was elected as Mayor in April and sworn in last month.
The Kinmundy Board agreed to seek an Illinois Department of Natural Resources permit to allow primitive camping at the old city lake. Alderman Curt Jones said a handicapped assessable bathroom facility is already at the lake that was built by South Central High School construction students. He reports they will need to be cleaned up. Still to be decided are the rules, any costs to camp, and how to divide off camping spaces.
The board reached no decision on rules over those wanting to use the city lake for fishing tournaments. Right now there are no requirements. Diss says some of those holding tournaments are also failing to require participants to purchase the city’s boat sticker.
After considerable discussion, the Kinmundy Board agreed to not make a change in the mobile home ordinance. Mobile homes moved into town will have to be ten years of age or less. Alderman Tony Wimberly wanted to relax the rules to at least 15 years of age because he felt many could not afford the newer mobile homes.
If the city attorney sees no problem, the city will develop a website that would allow city utility bills to be paid on line. It could also be used to post ordinances, meeting agendas and minutes, and community activities.
