Iuka Fire Chief Kenny Eagan says a fire at a rural Iuka home late Thursday night was confined to a power strip plugged into an electrical outlet.
Eagan says the fire was at the Shannon Davis home at 8613 State Route 161 Extension east of the Iuka Road. He reports Davis had unplugged items from the power strip and had the fire out upon the department’s arrival.
Firemen did have to remove some smoke from the home. Salem Firemen were called for automatic mutual aid, but were cancelled before arriving on the scene.
The fire call came in at 11:35 Thursday night. Eagan says they were on the scene for about 30 minutes.
