Centralia gets a new Mayor and two new city council members Monday night.
There has been no effort to block the seating of Bryan Kuder who easily won election in April two years after the city council would not seat him over residency concerns after his first election victory for Mayor. Kuder is still fighting the council’s action in court. A judge heard arguments on motions in March but has not yet issued a ruling.
In addition to Kuder, Rob Jackson and Jeffrey Castellari will be seated as councilmen after winning a five-way race.
The council will then be asked to appoint Robert “Spanky” Smith as Mayor Pro-Tem.
The council will also honor outgoing Mayor Herb Williams and councilman Andre Marshall and Howard Jones. The two councilmen did not seek re-election.
The council will consider a $63,280 bid from Master Construction Combined to make repairs to the roof at the Emergency Operation Center.
The new Council also will face two leftover issues from the old city council. They are an ordinance to establish a city truancy code and if the city council should return to in-person meetings. Tonight’s swearing-in and meeting will be available to watch via Zoom.
