The Salem Track & Field team hosted Central, Okawville, Wood River and Webber on Thursday. The boys won the event with 138 points followed by Central 89, Okawville and Wood River finished with 40 and Webber 29.
Winning for Salem was Creed Phillips in the 110 high hurdles; Caleb Smith won the shot put by 6 feet and Logan Rubin the long jump. Also winning was the 4×100 team of Brayden Smith, Jervase Mayes, Sean Thorton and Logan Rubin as well as the 4×200 team of Thorton Smith, Connor Tennyson and Mayes.
Second place finishes from the Salem boys came from Brennan Harris in the shot, Ethan Price in the high and triple jumps, Jacob Ware in the 3200, Haddon Lybarger the4 400, Caleb Smith in the discus, Braddy Crane the 300 low hurdles, Rylan Crane in the 1600, Logan Rubin the 200. Also the 4×800 team of Crane, Branson Pappas, Ricardo Salgado and Ryder Goff and the 4×400 team of Lybarger, Crane, Salgado and Pappas.
The Lady Cats were second to Breese Central 151-100 with Okawville third with 50 followed by Wood River 43 and Webber 13. Alexis McGinnis won the 100 meter high hurdles, Bella Krajefska the 800 and the 4×800 team of Jaedyn Goostree, Ivy Donoho, Abbie Smith and Krajefska.
Taking 2nd places for the Salem girls were Shelby Martin in the pole vault, Savannah Nichols in the 100, Ivy Donoho in the 800, Molly Smith the triple jump, McGinnis the 300 intermediate hurdles as well as the 4×200 team of Brin Metcalf, Margie Donoho, Nichols and Avery Robinson.
