There will be more students in the Little Egypt CEO program next school year.
Facilitator Emily Kracht says seniors from three area high schools have signed up to participate in the before-school program that lets them visit with business leaders and develop and start their own businesses.
“This year our deadline to apply was about a month ago, March 26, and we have accepted 7 students for the program for next year. I believe we have got 3 from South Central, 3 from Centralia, and 1 from Patoka.”
There are three students in the first-year program this year that will be winding down their year with a trade show in the conference room at the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce next Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7.
Kracht is looking for mentors for each of the students as well as businesses that would like to provide speakers or host the students.
Kracht says their small size this year allowed them to get into most places even with COVID-19 limitations. She says the CEO program organization also provided a number of Zoom programs that allowed the students to visit with business leaders in Effingham, St. Louis, and Indianapolis with other CEO chapters.
