Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says four juveniles were arrested in the process of burglarizing a home in the 300 block of South Elm Street Tuesday morning.

Dodson reports the same home had been burglarized on Monday and as a result, the owners had put up four video cameras. They were watching the cameras when they saw the juveniles in the home Tuesday and called the police.

Dodson says officers surrounded the house and then went inside arresting the four without incident. He reports the group was in the process of putting things in backpacks to remove from the home. Dodson feels the same group was most likely responsible for Monday’s burglary.

Entry on Tuesday was gained by breaking out a window in a back door.

Dodson says two females who had run away from One Hope United, a male juvenile from Effingham who was wanted on a warrant, and a Centralia male juvenile were all taken to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center pending a first juvenile court appearance on Wednesday.
