SIU earned its first playoff appearance since 2009 when the FCS Playoff bracket was announced yesterday. The Salukis are 5-3 and were awarded one of the six at large bids to the 16 team field and will play undefeated Weber State on Saturday at 3pm. It will be televised on ESPN 3. The winner will play the winner of Holy Cross and top seed South Dakota State.
SIU running back Javon Williams Jr was named the Missouri Valley Football offensive player of the week. In the Dawgs win over 15th ranked Southeastern Louisiana. Williams rushed 24 times for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns and also threw a 56 yard touchdown pass. It’s the 3rd time he has won the award in his career.
