The Marion County Health Department is reporting 28 new COVID-19 cases from Friday through Monday.   Three are considered community spread while the other 25 are believed to be from household or close contacts.

There are now 33 active cases, including one who is in the hospital but not on a ventilator.  Five were released from isolation during the four-day period.

Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says the State Health Department has now determined a death of a long-term care resident from last year was COVID-19 related.   She reports the woman in her 90s tested positive in November and passed away in December.   The death is the 117th in Marion County as a result of COVID-related causes.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting seven new positive cases over the weekend and Monday.   There are now 15 on home isolation and one who is hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting seven new cases on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.   There are currently 11 in isolation.

Washington County is reporting two new cases over the past three days.  Five are currently listed as active with no hospitalizations.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting eight new cases in the week ending on Sunday.

Statewide, 1,959 new cases of coronavirus disease were reported including 22 additional deaths.   The only Southern Illinois death was a female in her 80s from St. Clair County.

The state reports 53 percent of those 18 years and older and 50-percent of those 16 and older have now received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate remains at five percent.
