One of the incumbents on the Salem High School Board was defeated in Tuesday’s election. The top vote-getter was newcomer Joe Telford, who finished with 1,335 votes. Current board President Eric Bandy was second with 1,327 votes. Incumbent Marla Tolliver was third with 1,249 votes and incumbent Michael McKinzie fourth with 951 votes. Not winning a seat were current board member Shawn Morris who had 692 votes and Andrew Kendrick who finished with 537 votes.
An incumbent was unseated on the Salem Grade School Board. Amanda Hartley finished fifth among the five candidates for the four open seats. Current board President John Gaston was the top vote-getter with 837 votes. Kerri Richards was second with 704 votes. Patty Squibb was third with 694 votes and newcomer Jason Smith claimed the fourth seat with 640 votes. Hartley finished with 515 votes.
In a six-person race for the four open seats at Selmaville, Josh Tate was the top vote-getter with 229 votes. Danny Shuler was second with 202 votes. Lynnsey Heinzmann was third with 196 votes and Carrie McKinzie fourth with 182 votes. Those not winning seats were Kyle Kell with 180 votes and Brook Lewis with 171 votes.
At Patoka School, three candidates were vying for two open seats in one of the township groupings. Kurtis Belcher was the top vote-getter with 270 votes and Mark Payne captured the second seat with 253 votes. Michelle Landreth finished third with 205 votes. The vote totals include Marion, Clinton, and Fayette Counties.
