Marion County Clerk Steve Fox is staying with his 25-percent anticipated voter turnout for Tuesday’s election.

There are plenty of things to vote on including contested races for Mayor and City Council in both Salem and Centralia, and a number of contested village, school board, Kaskaskia College trustee, and township elections. Centralia residents are voting on a half-cent sales tax increase to pay for the purchase of two new fire trucks and future public safety improvements in the police and fire departments.

Polls opened at six am and remain open until seven Tuesday night. WJBD will have election night returns beginning around eight.

There were 495 who took advantage of early voting in Marion County prior to today’s election.
