Mt. Vernon Police are still looking for the driver of a pickup truck that struck a vehicle at Route 37 North and Oakland Drive Sunday afternoon and fled the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck, 35-year-old Laangel Forrest of Mt. Vernon, chased the pickup after it left the scene north on Route 37. The truck turned onto the Walnut Hill Road and Forrest had to stop due to severe back and neck pain that resulted from the crash.
The Kell Fire Protection District was called to assist Forrest until an ambulance arrived and took her to SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon for treatment.
