SSM Health will reduce the hours of the drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites starting on Monday due to decreased demand. The clinics in Centralia and Mt. Vernon will now be open from eight am to noon seven days a week.
SSM Health notes in February, approximately 1,700 tests were administered, a number that dropped to approximately 700 in March. The drop in testing can likely be attributed to the slowing of community spread of the virus and the increase in the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
SSM Health will continue to monitor the number of tests administered each week and will adjust hours as needed or if demand surges.
