Governor Pritzker announces $7-Billion is headed to Illinois schools from federal COVID relief money.

Marion County school districts will receive more than 39-million dollars in new federal COVID-19 relief money.   Statewide, schools are receiving seven billion dollars.

Governor JB Pritzker says a learning renewal resource guide has been put together to help schools decide how to spend their share of the proceeds.

“Academic and behavioral counseling, out-of-classroom experiences like high-value tutoring, after-school programs and summer camps, or creating individual student profiles to craft the best plans for all students,” said Pritzker.

State School Superintendent Carmen Ayala says the 180-page guide was put together by education experts who will seek input from schools about how the ideas are working and take suggestions on other innovative efforts.

“We are now presented with a unique opportunity to transform systems of learning for students to reshape our new normal so that our students return to an education system that is more equitable, more individualized, and more responsive to their needs,” said Ayala.
