A spokesperson for the Governor has indicated the state will not be quickly moving to the ‘Bridge Phase’ that would allow for a relaxation of crowd sizes.
A growing number of COVID cases in Northern Illinois along with an increase in hospital admissions and hospital patients will keep Illinois in the current Phase Four mitigations. The increase in cases and hospitalizations come as the state was reaching the other requirement of 70-percent of seniors being vaccinated.
With new cases on the rise, the Governor encouraged every resident to buckle down, wear a mask and do your part to get to the other side of the pandemic.
There were 1,761 new COVID-19 cases reported statewide on Monday along with five additional deaths. None were in South Central or Southern Illinois. The statewide positivity rate is now at 3.3-percent.
However, new case numbers were small in South Central Illinois over the weekend and Monday.
The Marion County Health Department reported just three new cases. One was a student where contact tracing was underway. All were considered community spread. There are now 14 active cases, including three in the hospital and one on a ventilator. Marion County’s positivity rate for the past seven days is three-tenths of a percent. Just under 13-percent of the Marion County population or 4,862 people are now fully vaccinated with 13,347 vaccines administered.
In Clinton County, just two new cases were recorded over the weekend and Monday. There are currently 23 on home isolation and no hospitalizations.
The Jefferson County Health Department reported 11 new cases over the past three days with 16 currently on isolation.
The Fayette County is reporting 14 new cases over the past week.
