The Illinois baseball team is set to open its home slate this weekend against Northwestern at 4pm today. The game will be the first at Illinois Field in 388 days. The Illini are 6-6 coming off a four game weekend split in Ann Arbor against No. 13 Michigan and Michigan State two games each.
The 22nd ranked SIU Salukis are 18-1 on the season. Those 18 wins are tied for the most in the nation with Tennessee. In their last game out, a 21-4 win over SEMO, Salem grad Adam Bunnell combined five other pitchers to pitch five-straight scoreless innings. The Salukis will host Little Rock for a three game series this weekend at Itchy Jones Stadium.
