The Marion County Health Department is reporting the county’s 115 COVID-19 related death.    The male was in his 80s.

The health department is reporting 10 new positive COVID-19 cases on Thursday.  Two are community spread while the other eight are believed to be from household or close contacts. There are currently nine active cases, including two who are in the hospital.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting no new cases on Thursday, with 32 currently in isolation and none hospitalized.   The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting four new cases for Thursday, with 13 positive cases currently in isolation.    The Wayne County Health Department is reporting two new cases on Wednesday with six currently in isolation.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 12,575 vaccines have now been administered to Marion County residents.  4,501 are fully vaccinated, representing 11.96-percent of the county residents.

Statewide, 2,190 new cases were reported on Thursday, with 35 additional deaths.   The Marion County death was the only one in South Central Illinois.   Three other deaths were reported in the Metro-East and four others in Southern Illinois.

The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days is now at 2.7-percent.   The Southern Illinois positivity rate is 1.2-percent.  Marion County’s positivity rate is at a half-percent.

Statewide, 118,544 additional vaccines were administered on Wednesday, bringing the total to date to 5,154,908.
