A 19-year-old Centralia woman was airlifted by a medical ambulance to a St. Louis hospital following a one-car crash late Thursday morning on the Illinois Route 161 Extension west of Buchannan Road in Haines Township.

State Police say Rosalyn Dewey was traveling westbound when she left the right side of the road and struck a utility pole with the front and rear driver’s side door.

Kell Fire Protection District officials say they had to extricate Dewey from the vehicle.

State Police say Dewey sustained serious injuries.

Dewey was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, and improper display of registration.

Tri-County Electric crews were called to replace the power pole.

Marion County ESDA assisted with traffic control during the crash and while Tri-County was changing out the power pole.

The crash occurred at 11:43 Thursday morning.
