The City of Centralia has announced boat licenses required for Raccoon Lake and Lake Centralia are now on sale for the coming summer season.
City officials are reminding fisherman and boaters to obtain a boat license from Centralia City Hall prior to launching any motorized boat upon the lakes since licenses will not be sold on-site. Operating a boat on the lakes without a license will result in a $150 fine.
As in years past, non-motorized watercraft such as canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats do not require a license. Airboats are not allowed on either lake and sailboats are not allowed on Lake Centralia. Boats exceeding 21 feet in overall length are not allowed on either lake with the exception of pontoons and sailboats, which may exceed 21 feet in length.
The Raccoon Lake speed limit is five miles per hour, with no wake. The Lake Centralia speed limit is 40 miles per hour between the hours of eight am and eight pm and less than 10 miles per hour during all other hours.
Fishing is limited to pole and line fishing only.
Further details after boating and fishing on the lakes can be found on the City of Centralia website or by calling 533-7623 for further information.
