The Centralia City Council has approved two proposals from Howell Paving that will result in old pavement being removed and new pavement installed on Calumet Street from Poplar to Hickory Street. The total cost will be $124,000. The money is budgeted out of tax increment financing district funds.
The council approved the sale of four parcels of land earlier acquired by the city to the highest bidder. The property is at 416 North Maple, 426 South Pine, 815 Arbor and 1834 Duck Lane. The bids were opened at the last meeting.
The council feels they are getting closer to having some type of open meetings instead of the current Zoom meetings. The council appears to be leaning to having meetings in person with limited capacity for the public. The meetings could continue to be provided online for anyone unable to attend in person due to social distancing requirements. More discussion is planned at the next meeting.
