Illinois State Police say DCI agents have located human skeletal remains in a field off Sixth Street in Pana. The remains were found during a search by multiple groups looking for Daniel Crosby of Carterville who has been missing since February 27th, 2020 when he was in Pana.
The remains were found in an area to the north and east of Crosby’s last known location and were beyond areas that had previously been searched.
No identification has been made at the present time. Identification will require additional forensic review. State Police DCI say preliminary evaluation of the skeletal remains revealed no obvious signs of trauma.
The search on Saturday was conducted by DCI Zone Four, the Chris-Mont (Christian and Montgomery County( Emergency Management Agency, Pana Police and Fire Departments, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Christian County Coroner’s Office, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services as well as numerous other agencies.
DCI officials say the investigation is active and ongoing. No other information is currently being released. Anyone with information about the investigation is urged to contact ISP Zone 4 at (217) 782-4750.
