Two people were taken to the Marion County Jail following two foot pursuits and a vehicle chase in Centralia early Wednesday night.

Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says the incident unfolded when the department went to the 1200 block of South Walnut looking for 26-year-old Nathan Felton on two outstanding failure to appear warrants.   He reportedly ran from the home leading to a foot chase.

His girlfriend, 19-year-old Chelsea Wickman-Lentz of South Pine, reportedly began driving around the area and Felton eventually jumped into her vehicle.   Dodson says that led to a vehicle chase that continued to North Geary Street.   When they couldn’t drive any further on the road, Felton reportedly jumped back out of the car and attempted to run on foot into a wooded area.   In the process of being handcuffed, Felton allegedly injured the finger of a Centralia Police Officer.

As a result, Felton was arrested for aggravated battery to a police officer in addition to the outstanding Marion and Clinton County warrants that carried a bond of $5,000 apiece.

Wickman-Lentz was arrested for obstructing justice, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and possession of drug paraphernalia.   Dodson says she remained in the vehicle after she stopped the vehicle on Geary Street.

Both were taken to the Marion County Jail.

The incident unfolded at 6:38 Wednesday evening.
