The Clinton County Board Monday night named Joseph D. Brandmeyer as the new State’s Attorney to serve until after the next General Election in November of next year.
Brandmeyer was one of three finalists for the job interviewed by the county board’s personnel committee. He is the son of Clinton County Resident Circuit Court Judge Stan Brandmeyer who will swear in his son as the new state’s attorney and outgoing State’s Attorney Douglas Gruenke as the 4th Judicial District’s next Associate Judge at a combined ceremony at the Clinton County Courthouse at three pm on March 26th.
Joseph D. Brandmeyer is currently an attorney in the Edwardsville office of Sandberg and Pheonix. Gruenke says Brandmeyer plans to spend as much time as possible in the office with him the week before taking over to learn the operation. The Clinton County Board Monday night accepted the resignation of Doug Maue as Sheriff effective May 28th. No action was taken on naming a new sheriff.
