Two Centralia men were formally charged in Marion County Court on Thursday with sex abuse charges stemming from an investigation led by the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8.
25-year-old Wilton Nicholas Herrara-Lopez of East Broadway in Centralia was formally charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse with bond set at $35,000. 19-year-old Kevin Herrara-Guzman of Centralia was charged with criminal sexual abuse and had bond set at $20,000.
Herrara-Lopez is accused on the Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges of committing an act of sexual penetration with two separate juveniles between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age when the defendant was at least five years older than the juvenile in February of this year.
Herrera-Guzman is charged in the Class A Misdemeanor criminal sexual abuse charge of committing an act of sexual penetration with a juvenile between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age when the defendant was less than five years older than the juvenile in February.
DCI officials say they were asked by Centralia Police to lead an investigation into an alleged criminal sexual assault that was reported to have happened in the 100 block of East Broadw2ay in Centralia last month. Both were taken into custody by State Police without incident on March 9th.
Both men had the public defender appointed to represent them and ordered to have no contact with the alleged victims or anyone under the age of 18 if they are able to post bond.
