A malfunctioning power strip is blamed for starting a small fire in the basement of an Odin home that caused smoke in the residence.
Odin Firemen were called to a home owned by James and Nita Raver at 1404 East Poplar in Odin to a report of smoke in the home at 5:04 Thursday evening. Firemen were able to trace the source of the smoke to the basement and the power strip that had caught fire. There was no other fire damage.
Firemen were on the scene for about a half-hour. Salem Fire Protection District Firemen were called on automatic mutual aid.
