Plans are moving ahead for a 2021 Marion County Fair.
Fair Board President Doug Telford says they are planning for a full fair and are hoping COVID-19 restrictions by the end of July will allow for it to be held.
Telford says the fair will be similar to pre-COVID years. Little Egypt Amusements and food vendors will be back on the midway, the exhibit building will be full of entries, and grandstand favorites will return.
The fair week will be Saturday, July 31st, and run through Saturday, August 7th.
The grandstand entertainment line-up will be the same as in 2019. The fair will open on July 31st with Moto Cross, a gospel sing is planned for Sunday, August 1st. The ITPA tractor pull will be held Monday of fair week, the Queen Pageant on Tuesday, the Whippoorwill Rodeo on Wednesday, the Talent Show and Junior Miss on Thursday, the Demolition Derby on Friday, and the NTPA tractor pull will once again close the nightly grandstand events on Saturday night, August 7th.
Most of the fair officers are also remaining the same for 2021. Telford continues to serve as President, Mickey Crippen as Vice-President, Kirk Wilkins as Secretary-Treasurer. Jay Wilkins has been elected assistant fair board secretary.
Telford says the Fair Queen pageant will have new directors. Former Fair Queens Karlie Coffee and Morgan Crouse will take the reins. Jamie Nattier will now head the Talent Show.
