Salem Fire Protection District officials say a fire that melted an electric pizza maker caused a small smoky fire at the Liz Wimberly home at 315 East Bryan in Salem late Wednesday morning.
Fire officials say the pizza maker was sitting on top of a stove where a burner was accidentally turned on. Occupants reported they knocked down the fire before firemen arrived, but needed assistance in clearing smoke from the house.
An ambulance was later called to check out one of the residents for possible smoke inhalation. The resident did not require medical attention.
The fire call came in at 11:04 Wednesday morning.
