A 24-year-old Odin man had bond set at $200,000 in a Marion County Court Zoom hearing Wednesday morning on charges of aggravated domestic battery, theft of a motor vehicle and interference with the reporting of domestic violence.

Centralia Police say Daniel Johnston of Page Avenue reported battered a Centralia woman in her apartment on two successive days before eventually taking a car belonging to the woman’s aunt. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Johnston was arrested Tuesday after police stopped the vehicle after the incident had been reported by the alleged victim.

Reports indicate Johnston had been staying with the woman at the time of the incident.

The public defender was appointed to represent Johnston. If released on bond, he was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or her residence. Johnston was also ordered to abstain from drugs and alcohol.
