A geography, health, art, and PE teacher at Trinity Lutheran School in Centralia is the WJBD-WSIQ Teacher of the Week.

Kristi Britt has been a teacher for the past few years after starting her career at Trinity Lutheran as a teacher’s aide.

“I love the kids.  I mean the kids are just wonderful and getting to spend my days I am blessed.”

Britt’s nomination said she had the perfect combination of firmness and love, is very generous to the students and school. It was noted she pays for many things out of pocket, buys gifts, treats/rewards, and is very creative with learning to make it fun.

It was noted she encourages each student artistically and physically and believes in them.

Britt says the students have been very good about wearing their masks and following floor markings to stay socially distanced. She reports the school has been fortunate to not have to go remote learning due to COVID-19 but did have to use their plan during the recent heavy snowstorm.

“It has been a challenge but we have wonderful parents here at Trinity Lutheran School and they make sure the kids get what they need and doing what they are supposed to at home.  So we have a wonderful group of parents that help us with the kids.”

Principal Christine DeBoard is proud of what Britt has done during her tenure at Trinity Lutheran.

“We are really blessed to have Kristi here.  She goes out of her way to do a lot of extra things and spends a lot of her own extra money coming up with fun things to incorporate the lessons and makes learning fun.”
