A 32-year-old Clay City man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and theft after Centralia Police initially investigated a hit-and-run accident.
Centralia Police say Jermiah Leigh was questioned after his pickup truck broke down at Calumet and Airport Road. It reportedly had a catalytic converter in the bed that had been removed from a vehicle. Leigh allegedly admitted removing the converter from a vehicle in Clay County with plans to take it to a salvage business to sell for scrap. In addition, Centralia Police say Leigh was reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine.
Police initially came across Leigh when investigating a hit and run crash that had occurred earlier on Saturday morning at Pine and Calumet.
A 16-year-old juvenile from Clay City that was a passenger in the car was taken into custody on a no-bond juvenile warrant.
Leigh remains in the Marion County Jail pending a court decision on charges Monday, while the juvenile was transported to the Franklin County Juvenile detention center.
