18th ranked Vincennes University turned back Kaskaskia College 79-64. The Trailblazers played the final 22 minutes without head coach Todd Franklin who was ejected after getting his second technical with 2:12 left in the first half. Freshman Justin Archer came off the bench to lead VU with 17. Sophomore Shomari Tillett led KC and all scorers with 25, Payton Sheen and Chauncey Hughes had 12 each with Traeveion Jones adding 11. KC is off until Saturday when they play at Shawnee.
In other region action, Olney came back from a seven point deficit with 35 seconds to play and edged #3 John A Logan in Carterville 74-73 leaving both teams tied for the District lead at 5-1. Shawnee 94-67 over Lewis & Clark, SWIC defeated Lincoln Trail 79-70.
The KC Blue Angels fell at VU 89-77. Five Blue Angels were in double figures led by Kyra Duncan with 18, Janiah Newell 15, Reyna Bullock 14, Malea Lovelace 12 and Megan Kronk 11. The Blue Angels also will travel to Shawnee on Saturday.
