Bond has been set at $15,000 in Marion County Court for a St. Louis area man formally charged Thursday with aggravated criminal sexual abuse with force and possession of a controlled substance.

Centralia Police say Donta Bass was arrested after allegedly sexually abusing a woman in his vehicle while it was parked on Wright Drive.   Later at the Centralia Police Department, Bass was allegedly found in possession of ten pills he told police were Ecstasy leading to the drug delivery charge.

Police say a 19-year-old Centralia female called police after she was able to escape from Bass’ car and bang on the door of a friend’s apartment to get help.   Bass was still in his car on Wright Drive when police arrived and gave consent to search the vehicle.  Police say while they had been told Bass may have a firearm, he did not have one in his possession.

The victim told police she knew Bass.   She reported Bass began touching her in a provocative manner before eventually grabbing a bottle and sexually assaulting her with it.   Bass reportedly tried to get the woman to take an Ecstasy pill with liquor he had in the car.    She drank a small amount of alcohol but refused the pill before eventually being able to flee.

The incident was reported to police at 5:19 Wednesday morning.
