The Salem Post Office is reaching out for help in getting the mail delivered during the current snow event.
Salem Acting Postmaster/Officer in Charge Michelle Heinzmann says maintaining a clear path to the mailbox, including steps, porches, walkways, and street approaches, will help letter carriers maintain consistent delivery service. She notes delivery service may be delayed or curtailed whenever streets or walkways present hazardous conditions for letter carriers or when snow is plowed against mailboxes.
Heinzmann adds curtailing deliveries only occurs after consideration and as a last resort with an attempt then made to deliver the mail the following day.
