Marion County Highway Engineer Mike McCormick says crews have been pulled in for the evening as some east-west roads are drifting back shut almost as quickly as they are reopened.

He reports they will be back out at five Tuesday morning to plow again with better success.  The snow will have ended and the wind is expected to die down.

McCormick is encouraging everyone to stay put for the evening to avoid getting stuck in the numerous locations that are impassable due to drifting.

The Salem Police Department reports vehicles are getting stuck everywhere, especially on the I-57 ramps and secondary city streets.

The Centralia Police Department reports main roads are passable, but many side streets are drifting shut.
