Three people were injured in a two-car crash on westbound Interstate 70 at milepost 58 in Vandalia.
State Police say preliminary investigative details indicate a car driven by 36-year-old William Free of Champaign ran into the rear of a vehicle that had slowed in front of him driven by 54-year-old Duan Travis of St. Louis.
Travis was airlifted from the scene to a regional hospital with serious injuries. Free and a passenger in his car, 29-year-old Natalie Free of Champaign, were both transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Free was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and operating a vehicle without insurance. Travis was ticketed for driving with a revoked license and operating a vehicle without insurance.
The crash occurred at 8:59 Thursday night.
