A 33-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested for alleged aggravated criminal sexual assault.
Anthony Knappier was taken into custody on Wednesday following an investigation that began with a February 6th report of an alleged sexual assault of a juvenile. Deputies responded to the home in the Rolling Meadows Trailer Park on Route 37 north of Mt. Vernon and took protective action to ensure the well-being of the juveniles in the residence.
The sheriff’s department then contacted investigators from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to take over the investigation that led to Knappier’s arrest.
Knappier remains in the Jefferson County Jail pending the setting of bail.
