A 33-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in federal court at Benton for possession with intent to distribute 50 or more grams of methamphetamine.

Jacob Williamson was arrested by Centralia Police last May after a vehicle and foot pursuit with Centralia Police. Centralia Police at the time said Williamson threw a package that contained a pound
of methamphetamine into a back yard when running on foot near 4th and Beech. The attempted traffic stop occurred as part of a drug interdiction detail.

Federal Judge Staci Yandle handed down the sentence during a video court hearing at the US Court House in Benton. Williamson had earlier entered a guilty plea.

He will have to complete five years supervised release when getting out of prison and was also fined $300.
