Two people are in custody following the execution of search warrants at their homes on Friday by the Mt. Vernon Police/Jefferson County Sheriff High-Risk Team.

Lamar Williams

40-year-old Lamar Williams of 609 South 22nd in Mt. Vernon was arrested after a knock and announce search warrant resulted in the alleged location of quantities of methamphetamine, cannabis, drug equipment and currency.   He’s being held in the Jefferson County Justice Center for possession of 15 to 100 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of 30 to 500 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver, and possession of drug equipment.

Darin Carpenter

In the other bust, a narcotics search warrant was executed at 49 Rolling Meadows in rural Mt. Vernon.   22-year-old Darin Carpenter was taken into custody for alleged possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine.    Investigators say they located evidence inside the residence.

The Mt. Vernon Police-Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says both arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation.   They note both are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
