The Marion County Health Department is reporting 54 positive cases of COVID-19 Wednesday through Friday.   There were no new deaths in the county during the past three days.

Of the 54 new cases, none were in long term care residents.  Five were students, with the health department doing contact tracing on two of them.  The other three were not at school during their infectious period.  The health department reports 32 of the cases are community spread and 22 are household/close contacts.

There are currently 326 active cases, including 23 in the hospital and one on a ventilator.   The health department is reporting 290 being released from isolation.   There are now 3,644 who are considered recovered.

Statewide, there were 3,660 new cases and 83 additional deaths including a male in his 60s from Fayette County and males in their 70s and 80s from Effingham County.   The Fayette County death is the 53rd during the pandemic.

In Clinton County, there were 21 new positive cases.  226 are currently on home isolation and five are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 11 new cases.  There are currently 152 positive cases in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting 12 new cases on Thursday and Friday.  There are now 31 active cases and one person hospitalized.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting five new cases.

The Southern Illinois Region’s positivity rate for the seven days ending February 2nd is 4.5-percent.    Marion County’s positivity rate has fallen to 1.9-percent.  The Metro-East Region’s positivity rate is at six-percent and the availability of ICU beds has improved to 22-percent.   The East-Central Illinois Region is at four-percent positivity.
