Nearly 75,000 COVID-19 vaccination doses were administered on Friday, a new record in Illinois.
Governor JB Pritzker says there still isn’t enough vaccine coming to Illinois, but that sites across the state are working hard to administer as many doses as possible. This week, about 49,000 shots on average were given each day, with the number especially high on Thursday. The Governor urges patience and says he’s hopeful a new vaccine by Johnson and Johnson will be approved soon.
“It is a one-dose vaccine which makes it easier to administer so people don’t have to come back for a second appointment and that’s very important. I hope we will see the third vaccine in the pipeline not too many weeks from now.”
Governor Pritzker says you can find a vaccination location near you on the website: Coronavirus.Illinois.gov. New daily COVID cases have been under 4,000 for a week now in Illinois and all regions of the state are in Phase Four of the Restore Illinois Plan.
