Iuka Fire Chief Kenny Eagan reports a fire in the upper portion of an old style barn was quickly knocked down with only minor damage.
The fire call was at the Erin Donoho property at 6475 Route 161 Extension in rural Iuka.
Eagan says Salem Firemen arrived first and had the fire under control. Iuka also called Kell Firemen for mutual aid assistance. He reports the fire apparently was electrical in nature and started near the electrical entrance into the barn.
Some hay stored in the hay loft the barn caught fire and had to be removed from the barn to have the fire extinguished. The fire call came in just before seven Thursday night.
