The KC Blue Devils improved to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the GRAC with their 82-73 win at SWIC.  Maryville transfer, sophomore Chris White scored 21 for KC with 16 from Traeveion Jones, 14 from Chauncey Hughes and a 12-point effort from Shomari Tillet.  Walter Johnson’s 22 led SWIC.  The Blue Devils return to action Monday when the men and women both host Wabash Valley in games you can hear on WJBD.

 

Vincennes 80; Lake Land 73

          Fourth-ranked Vincennes rebounded from Monday’s, 79-70, loss at Olney Central to defeat visiting Lake Land, 80-73, behind 24-second half points by freshman guard Brevin Jefferson.

          Jefferson, scoreless in the first half, hit 9-11 second half field goal attempts and 5-6 from the free throw line.

          Lake Land held an early lead before VU (5-1) nudged ahead 32-27 at halftime.

          Lake Land (1-4) kept pace – getting 24 points from reserve guard freshman Malachi Davis, 16 in the second half. Davis, however, went 9-18 from the free throw line including 7-15 in the period.

          Christian Kapongo scored 17 for the Lakers.

          Sophomore transfer Detrick Pashell lifted VU with his best performance of the season, coming off the bench to score 12 points. Justin Archer scored eleven with ten points from D.J. Brewton who grabbed ten rebounds.

 

John A. Logan 79; Lincoln Trail 64

          Fourth-rated John A. Logan won a heavyweight battle at Robinson, taking the Statesmen out of the unbeaten ranks, 79-64.

          Sophomore Rio McKinney tossed in 20 points to lead all scorers in the game, including 12 in the final half. Xavier Ball hit five treys – four in the second – to score 17 points while Cam Alford netted 14.

          Sophomore Ahmad Price topped out Lincon Trail (4-1) by scoring 16 points and Blaize Beauchamp scored twelve. Wendell DeMeyers dialed in three treys and score nine points.

          Logan (4-1) led 34-27 at halftime.

 

Wabash Valley 86; Lewis and Clark 67

          Wabash Valley extended its winning streak to five games after a season-opening loss by defeating the visiting Lewis and Clark Trailblazers.

          Sophomore Isaac Stanback led the way by scoring 20 points. TreVon Smith put in 15 and Jamison Epps had ten points.

          Undermanned due to suspensions, Lewis and Clark dressed only eight players led in the game by freshman Zane Short who scored 15 points while Zidane Moore scored 14 and and Kenon Dixon added 13 more.

          WVC (5-1) led 48-19 at halftime.

 

Olney Central 79; Shawnee 73

          Olney Central (4-1) came back from a 41-37 halftime deficit to defeat visiting Shawnee, 79-73.

          Freshman Taaj Patterson hit three 3’s and led OCC with 13 points. Elijah Farr scored 12, C.E. Talton and J.J. Kalakon, 11 each.

          Sophomore Keon Jones was the game’s leading scorer with 22 points. Adrian Cohen scored 14 and Akrahn Hazley netted eleven.

          There were 67 free throws in the game. Olney was 25-38 from the line while Shawnee (0-3) went 15-29 from the stripe.
