A Burkes Outlet Store is coming to Centralia.

Centralia City Manager Lowell Crow says the store will move into the building last occupied by Gordman’s before they shutdown when their parent company filed for bankruptcy.

Crow says remodeling was underway for the new store when work had to be stopped when asbestos was discovered. It is now being removed. Crow says no opening date has been set.

Burkes and Bealls Outlets say on their website that they have more than 400 stores across the country. They specialize in brand name clothing, toys and home goods, all up to 70-percent off other stores’ prices with new arrivals daily.

Crow says the shopping center’s management company is working hard to fill other openings in the Fairview Shopping Center including the space left vacant with the decision by AMC Movie Theatre not to reopen when COVID-19 mitigations were lifted.

City officials say another new business is also coming to town. D and K Nail Spa will be located in the Crooked Creek Crossing Mall next to the Wal-Mart Store.
