The Marion County Health Department is reporting 82 new positive cases of COVID-19 over the past five days.  The new cases put the county at 4,000 for a total number of positive COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.

None of the new cases were in long term care residents.  12 were in students.  They include seven students who were in class and are having contact tracing completed.  Four others were not at school during their infectious period and the other is a full remote student.   The health department considers 54 of the cases as community spread and 28 as the result of household or close contacts.

The department is reporting 539 active cases, including 24 in the hospital and two on ventilators.  No additional persons are reported as released from isolation during the period, with a total of 3,354 recovered since the pandemic began.   There have been 107 deaths.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 36 new positive cases over the weekend and on Monday.  There are currently 159 on isolation and seven who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 47 new positive cases over the past three days, including 22 at the Big Muddy Prison.   130 positive cases remain in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting six new cases during the past three days.  There are 26 active cases and 25 deaths with one new death reported over the weekend.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting 17 new cases over the past three days with one death at a long term care facility.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting seven new positive cases from Friday through Sunday.

The Wayne County Health Department is reporting 12 new cases on Monday.  There are currently 46 in isolation and five who are hospitalized.

Statewide, there were 2,312 new cases of coronavirus reported along with16 deaths.  None were in Southern Illinois.

The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days remained at 3.9-percent.  The Southern Illinois Region is at 4.9-percent positivity for the seven days ending January 29th.    The Metro East Region saw its positivity rate drop to 6.5-percent, but open ICU beds remained just under 20-percent at the 19-percent threshold.   That number needs to rise above 20-percent for three straight days for the region to enter a lower level of mitigation.   The East Central Illinois Region positivity rate fell a half-percent to 4.6-percent.
