All Marion County School staff will have the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19 on Saturday, February 6th.
The Centralia High School Board was told Thursday night the clinic will run from 9 am to 3:30 pm and will use the Moderna vaccine. Superintendent Chuck Lane is pleased the health department is making the vaccine available to school personnel and he is happy to host it for everyone. School personnel should contact their school or Marion County Health Department to register.
Centralia High School will begin offering the Covid-19 “quick test” program Monday, Feb. 1, with voluntary testing of symptomatic students and staff. Lane said the program, which will be free, “has the potential to keep more kids in school.” No students will be tested without parental permission. Testing tents will b located at both the CHS main building and the Annex. Additional information is available on the CHS web page, www.centraliahs.org.
Principal Reid Shipley reported school sports would begin soon and they are in the process of putting together schedules.
According to Lane, the school is in the process of setting up streaming systems to make some events available on the Internet. He hopes to have details finalized in time for the first games, and that it may be possible to have basketball as early as next weekend.
Shipley said state guidelines suggest “It is possible to have up to 50 spectators,” but added that the details have yet to be determined. He noted some conference schools in the Metro East Region are not even allowed to have practice yet.
