The Sandoval Village Board is looking at the idea of switching the locations of the new library and village hall.

Mayor Pam Gelsinger says the move could speed the opening of the library since the current village hall is already handicapped accessible and wider doors. The current library building would have the advantage of more private offices and more room for village employees. The current community room at the village hall building would not be impacted by the move.

There are concerns if the current village hall space is large enough to hold all of the library’s books and if some of the walls could be removed.

Gelsinger says once they finalize a location they will try and get internet access established for those in the community.

Village Attorney Ryan Conner told the board not to be discouraged by the slow speed of getting the library open, noting it is not unusual for such projects to take time to get off the ground but in the end they would be pleased they undertook the effort.
