The Kinmundy Board of Alderman has appointed retired school teacher Cindy Garrett as their new city clerk. Garrett was selected following a reception prior to the meeting to honor retiring clerk Ginny Randolph who has resigned after six years in the position.
Kinmundy is taking applications for a full-time police officer. They will be accepted at city hall through January 29th, with interviews to follow. The action comes after current full-time officer Vince King indicated he would be resigning.
The Kinmundy Board was told water rates would be going up 4-cents per thousand gallons effective this month. The rate increase is a pass-through from their supplier, the Gateway Regional Water Company.
The board decided to pass on a proposal for the city to hire a dog catcher.
The board was told American Obstacle is now removing their equipment from the old city lake property. The company had operated zip lines and other activities during a lease of the property from the city. They shut down operations last year but until now had left all of their equipment behind. The city plans
to return the old lake to a recreational area for fishing and other activities.
