A 21-year-old Sandoval man has been found unfit to stand trial in three separate cases of aggravated battery to a police officer.
Judge Allan Lolie made an additional ruling on the issue in Marion County Court on Tuesday after Preston Slone was formally charged with a third offense of aggravated battery to a police officer. He’s accused of throwing a jar of urine on a Marion County Jail correctional officer January 17th.
Court records in one of the prior aggravated battery cases indicate Slone had already been found unfit to stand trial with the examining Doctor anticipating he could regain fitness within a year with treatment. However, he had not yet been transported to a Department of Human Services Facility due to delays caused by COVID-19. Bond on the new charge was set at $20,000.
Slone had previously been charged with aggravated battery to a correctional officer following an incident last October when he allegedly struck a jail correctional officer in the face who was trying to break up a fight between Slone and another inmate.
Slone was being held for domestic battery, resisting arrest, and unlawful use of a weapon when the first aggravated charge was filed against him.
Slone had earlier posted bond on a third aggravated battery to a police officer charge following a June 2020 altercation with a Centralia Police Officer at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. In that incident, he allegedly threw a chair, phone book and plate at an officer who had come to his room after he reportedly became unruly and tore a phone out of the wall.
A status update on Slone’s condition with the Department of Human Services has been set for February 23rd.
